Picturesque & Wintery UK Breaks to Take This Year
5th January 2023
Power vocalist and culture-changing recording artist Grace Gaustad (@GraceGaustad) is doing it again with the release of their newest video and record ‘Like A Person’ from their groundbreaking sophomore album PILLBX which features TikTok star and trans activist Dylan Mulvaney, who recently made headlines for calling out Caitlyn Jenner’s transphobic comments. Arguably one of the most important records they have released to date, ‘Like A Person’ expresses the strong desire for many people of the LGBTQ+ community to use names instead of labels. Far too often, people in any type of a marginalized group are subjected to labels rather than just their first name. ‘Like A Person’ is a cry for help from a community that just wants to be seen, embraced, loved, celebrated, and accepted. Treat me like a person, not like a label, and not like an object. Say my first name and don’t preface it with a label.

To coincide with the message behind the song, Grace is using their voice to shine a light on The Equality Act, an expansion of the Civil Rights Act for the LGBTQ+ community which began on July 27th, 1974. Every day Grace has committed to writing the number of days since the Act was first amended on their car – 17,656 days as of today – in the hopes that it will bring attention to Congress and motivate them to enact it into law. They ask for supporters to use the hashtags #EqualityActNow and #LikeaPerson to bring awareness to the message.
Recently featured in Rolling Stone, Billboard, WWD, Newsweek, TODAY SHOW and seen in their massive viral success with famous fans Mick Jagger & Lady Gaga, non-binary singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Grace Gaustad is making a worldwide name for themselves for their loyal Gen Z audience and their raw music that touches on mental health, gender and sexual identity, and self-esteem. Grace is also the founder of BAKEUP, a digital-first beauty brand built on the concept of reimagining beauty in the multiverse which will be debuting on ZEPETO, the fastest-growing avatar platform that allows users to create unique, customizable 3D experiences. In a recent survey of US ZEPETO users, over 16% of users self-identified as gender non-binary or transgender – and Grace aligned with the platform’s approach to beauty, life, mental health and their audience of young, creative individuals who rely on ZEPETO as an outlet for experimentation and fluid self-expression.
The trailblazing success of Grace’s self-released BLKBX: wht r u hding?, and complete with the powerful tracks “Jupiter” and “Hero” (the latter of which is the title song for the Netflix film Rescued by Ruby), Gaustad has successfully carved a niche with a singular perspective that has garnered a global fan base built on a foundation of inclusivity and acceptance. Grace continues to have a knack for allowing fans to feel seen with their sophomore album, PILLBX: whts ur fantasy? PILLBX zooms out on a fantasy world with Gaustad traveling through the adventures of Grace’s own imagination. Grace’s new video project creates a longform connected world where their album is a new ‘season’ & each track a new ‘episode’ of a mind-bending television series.
Grace began singing and writing at the tender age of five, steadily refining their craft with eloquence as they battled a tumultuous youth, ultimately yielding a rich point-of-view that continues to influence Grace’s artistic output into adulthood. The result is a vulnerable and raw catalogue that includes songs focusing on topics ranging from anxiety to trauma, sexuality and depression. One standout is the LGBTQIA+ anthem “Red”, a romantic rumination on coming to terms with one’s identity. Emphasizing Grace’s commitment to the cause, Gaustad’s complimentary venture BLKBX Project offers free mental health services to fans.
